Cookie Policy
Effective: 2026-06-07 · Version 2026-06-07-v1
This Policy explains the cookies and similar storage technologies Stoophood uses, and your choices.
1. What we use
| Name / storage | Type | Purpose | Requires opt-in? |
|---|---|---|---|
sh_auth (cookie) | Essential | Signals your signed-in state to the app | No |
sh_cookie_consent (cookie) | Essential | Stores your cookie choices | No |
NEXT_LOCALE (cookie) | Essential | Remembers your language | No |
| Theme (local storage) | Functional | Remembers light/dark theme | No |
Auth tokens (local storage: stoophood_token, stoophood_refresh, stoophood_user) | Essential | Keeps your session active | No |
| Recent searches & dismissed hints (local storage) | Functional | Remembers recent searches and dismissed info cards on your device | No |
| Sentry (error reporting) | Diagnostics | Captures errors to diagnose problems | Yes |
| PostHog | Analytics | Aggregate product usage analytics | Yes |
2. Essential vs. optional
Essential items are required for the platform to work (sign-in, language, session) and cannot be switched off. Analytics/diagnostics items are optional and are only loaded after you opt in.
3. Your choices
On your first visit you will see a cookie banner with:
- Accept all — enables analytics/diagnostics in addition to essential.
- Reject non-essential — keeps only essential items.
- Customize — toggle analytics on or off.
If you reject non-essential cookies, optional analytics/diagnostics scripts (e.g., Sentry, PostHog) are not loaded. We do not use cookie walls or dark patterns; rejecting is as easy as accepting.
4. Managing your preferences
You can change your choice at any time from the cookie preferences link in Settings. Your preference is stored locally and in your consent record.
5. Changes and contact
We may update this Policy; the version and effective date appear above. Questions: info@stoophood.com.
